Canon 20d

Many of my friends have always asked me what my favorite brand of DSLR’s is. And after I tell them they ask me why I switched from Nikon to Canon. Truth is, in my opinion, that there is no better brand. It really is about the photographer. And when I say it’s about the photographer I don’t mean that they get great shots with all cameras, because if that was the case all professional photographers would be shooting with entry level digital SLR’s. I mean the feel, the comfort, the weight, the way buttons are placed etc. when it comes down to it, you are the one investing in your camera, not anyone else. This is why I became a Canon fan.

Pros: there are many characteristics that I like about Canon. I own a Canon 20d and I am completely in love with this camera. Testing out different Canon cameras I noticed how much I like the grip. My three bottom fingers don’t hurt when I am pressing the trigger due to the weight of the lens and flash. You really feel like you have a professional camera in your hands. Also do not believe when people say the lens feel like they are about to fall off. My lens is tight in there and they are not going anywhere. Nor have I had these problems with any other Canons. One thing that drives me crazy is the shutter sound on these cameras. Trust me, people break neck when I put my 20d in continuous shooting because of the beautiful sound it makes. And my main reason for switching was really the price. I could find a semi-professional Nikon for less that 800 or more dollars. I found my Canon 20d for less than 400. Bought the amazing 50mm f1.8 lens, and now I am taking AMAZING portrait shots.

Cons: Not to be negative, but there is some things I didn’t like about Canon all around. I didn’t like the look of the camera because it looks too “boxy”. I am used to the stylish Nikons. Also, the trigger button does not feel like is secure. I have read tons of reviews where the trigger button falls off. This has never happened to me and I’ve had this camera for a while now. The lens release button doesn’t feel so sturdy either. But it has never shown me problems either.

Remember this is my opinion; I didn’t post anything about the hardware because every camera has its different uses. Also Nikon has a camera to match every Canon, and vice versa. I hope this information will help you decide what brand to become a fan of. i have placed some random pics i took when i bought the camera. Switching brands is not easy when you have bought multiple accessories for that brand. Please comment if you have an opinion about this topic.
