how to get in a good university
61
When I was in high school I never really had much guidance. I never visited my councilor and never wanted to study at all. That is why now I am going to a normal college when I could have been going to one of the Universities here in Florida. now that I look back I see what I did wrong, I have learned from my mistakes and I don’t want anyone to make the same mistakes I did. I am not going to talk about studying or tutoring or about everything else that you already know. All these things help you out in the long run but you already know that.
I advise you to keep your GPA high. Take summer electives, concentrate on the hard classes you have, and if you are good on a subject, don’t be afraid to go to honors or gifted courses. They give you more credits to help boost your weighted GPA. Truth is sometimes they are not that much harder that your regular classes. And if they are too hard you can always go back to your normal ones.
Get yourself in some extracurricular activities; they really do make you look better when other colleges look at your application. And you can get a scholarship if you play a sport or are part of them. Join all the clubs you are interested in. try to become an officer or a vice president. The more you have the more the reader will be impressed.
One of the most important things you can do is study hard for your SAT/ ACT tests. These literally will make you or break you. I advise you to study every day for this, in the end it WILL pay off. Take them in your 11th grade year or sooner if you can. This will give you time to submit them to other universities and if you did poorly it will give you time to take them again for a higher score. I have seen many of my friends who have a 3.8 weighted GPA and still not make it in because of their SAT score.
I hope no one else makes the same mistakes I did and I hope everyone benefits from them; these are some of the most important things that will get you accepted into a college. Good luck and I hope this information will help you out.
